Apple has recently launched the Apple TV app for Samsung Smart TVs.
It is the first time that the video player has been available beyond Apple’s own platforms.
Samsung Smart TVs are also started support for Apple’s AirPlay 2 feature. It will help to wirelessly send audio and video to the TV screen without a set-top box attached.
Earlier this year, Samsung announced it would offer iTunes Movies and TV Shows as well as Apple AirPlay 2 support.
A firmware update on newer Samsung Smart TVs will add the both new features. The update will be available for Samsung Smart TVs including all 2019 smart TVs and selected 2018 models.

Samsung says that the new Apple TV app will be available in over 100 countries while AirPlay 2 support is offered in 176 countries.
The new Apple TV app has the support for viewing, renting, and buying movies and viewing and buying TV shows bought through the iTunes Store.
The Apple TV app on Samsung Smart TVs also supports purchasing subscriptions to services through the new Apple TV Channels feature. Therefore, users can get access to Showtime, HBO, and other streaming services in the US. Likewise, they will have the access to a number of other channels in France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the UK in Europe.
In coming fall, the new Apple TV app will provide access to Apple TV+ which is Apple’s new streaming entertainment service announced earlier this year.
