Microsoft Releases New Processor Requirements for Windows 10

  • Microsoft has revealed the processor requirements for Windows 10 version 1903 and Windows 10 version 1909.
  • Microsoft also included Snapdragon 855 which is a smartphone chip.
  • The new list of processors includes newer chips, like AMD Ryzen 3xxx CPUs and Intel’s 10th Gen processors.

The latest list consists of newer Intel, ARM, and Ryzen CPUs. These updated CPU requirements apply to the latest Windows 10 1903 and Windows 10 1909.

Intel Processors:

The processor requirements currently include all Intel 10th Gen processors, which are Intel Core i3, i5, i7, and i9-10xx. Additionally, Intel Atom (J4xxx/J5xxx, and N4xxx/N5xxx), Intel Xeon E-22xx, Celeron and Pentium series processors are also included in the list.

AMD Processors:

On the AMD side, the list has Ryzen 3xxx CPUs and AMD 7th Gen processors.

ARM Processors:

In the ARM list of processors, Microsoft has added Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and 8cx.

Including Snapdragon 855 potentially seems a mistake as it is not a PC processor. However, Windows 10 version 1903 previously included the Snapdragon 850. Thus, this chip may be compatible to work with PCs.

Corporate Today analysts will keep an eye on the upcoming updates to know the exact reason for including Snapdragon 850.
